What you will do as Communications Assistant

This is an exciting entry level opportunity to join an award-winning communications team at the heart of a successful and dynamic business. We're looking for someone with a demonstrable commitment to a career in communications, public relations or journalism. You'll already have strong copywriting skills, be highly organised, and willing to work flexibly across a range of tasks to tight deadlines.

We'll offer excellent training and development opportunities and from day one you'll be working alongside a team of highly experienced comms professionals, bringing stories about our winners and supported charities to life in a multi-channel environment.

You'll have a particular focus on supporting our internal communications and supporting the communications department's administrative processes. However, there will be opportunities to work across the various other workstreams in the department which are: winners news, charities, content and corporate.

It's a great learning environment and previous postholders have gone on to secure senior comms roles within the Postcode Lottery and elsewhere.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and create content for internal communications channels
  • Maintain LotteryNet, our intranet site
  • Build and distribute our weekly newsletter, issued business wide
  • Monitor the communications inbox – often the first point of call for journalists - ensuring all queries are responded to accurately and effectively
  • Support team engagement activities
  • Support with news release distribution
  • Provide assistance at events, such as winner events
  • Prepare briefs and biographies for senior managers
  • Produce departmental presentations and assets
  • Support team engagement activities
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Communications function, providing administrative support to Communications team

About you

  • Relevant professional experience or education (e.g. degree or equivalent), within a relevant discipline
  • Excellent and engaging writing skills
  • Knowledge of UK’s media and political landscape
  • Competent in SharePoint and associated Office 365 products
  • Enthusiasm to learn new systems and platforms

Family Time

Shared Parental Pay: 14 weeks at 100% of average weekly earnings followed by 23 weeks at 50% of average weekly earnings.
