Role Summary

As Senior Insight Analyst you will be responsible for Data Analytics, Data Mining, Data Modelling, Segmentation, Report Creation, Data Manipulation and Data Selection for retention and acquisition purposes, as well as producing analysis for other areas of the business. You will be working within the Insight (Data and Analytics) department, which sits in Marketing.   The Insight department is responsible for reporting, segmentation and delivering marketing effectiveness through the use of data. This includes: data planning & campaign selection, analytics, campaign process governance & data management.  You will be working within a team which acts a conduit with Marketing and as such get full exposure to the Marketing plans and initiatives. You will be responsible for working with large datasets with varied analytical output requirements.  You will create complex reporting, compile data analysis and produce data selections.  The role involves selecting data for marketing campaigns across direct mail, e-mail, outbound, SMS, and television & managing both the rules for customer contact and the customer journey. Working with the Insight Manager, you will assist in delivering a reporting framework and will be responsible for day to day generation and setup of reports.   You will also line manage Insight Analysts.

Key Activities

  • Responsible for gathering requirements for allocated area of business
  • Management of Insight Analysts
  • Preparing selections for acquisition and retention purposes and other business areas
  • Management of Production Task List for Insight Analysts – particularly for the large volume data selection tasks
  • Work closely with Database Administrators in order to continually improve Data Warehouse and associated components
  • Collating results of campaigns for Marketing and other departments to measure success
  • Utilise demographic classification system for reporting and selection purposes (Mosaic)
  • Utilise Data Warehouse to best advantage to include recommendations for developments to assist Insight Analysts
  • Liaising with Managers to understand campaigns, book in data production time with Insight Analysts and provide Insight
  • Management of Insight Analyst Tasks
  • Prepare statistical analysis and predictive analytics – advise analysts of best practice and statistical methodologies
  • Oversee report development

Required Skills

  • Experience working as an Insight Analyst
  • Experience interpreting and manipulating data and a logical analytical mind
  • Experience in creating reports and data visualisations
  • Access and Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills and strong organisational skills
  • Experience in manipulating large volume data sets
  • Highly numerate & analytical with a good attention to detail
  • Theoretical understanding of databases and database tables
  • Exposure to working with a wide variety of consumer data sets for marketing purposes
  • Understanding of the broader concepts of marketing automation, databases and the campaign development and measurement process
  • Excellent knowledge of data management principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in the presentation of complex data and analytical findings to non-technical audiences
  • Capable of simplifying complex datasets into simple insight and with meaningful explanation
  • Able to decisively and quickly prioritize requests based on importance, impact and timing
  • Be a quality driven, pragmatic and hands-on data expert – identifying and resolving issues
  • Have a passion for data visualisation & familiarity with techniques
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, Access etc.)
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrable SQL skills

Desirable Skills

  • Direct marketing background with experience working with large customer databases and previous experience in CRM/CVM with a strong grasp of marketing concepts & campaign tools
  • Experience working with campaign selection/management software
  • Ability to demonstrate great track record of working well within cross-functional environment
  • Experience utilising or knowledge of consumer classification systems (such as Mosaic, Acorn etc.)
  • Knowledge of Industry Suppression Files for Marketing
